Protect our beloved HR676 this Wednesday!

Congresswoman Jayapal is expected to introduce a new HR 676 bill soon. She is currently revising the text of the bill.

For the past 16 years, HR 676 Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act, has been introduced each Congress and has been considered the gold standard of single-payer healthcare. It would accomplish the incredible feat of eliminating private insurance and granting comprehensive healthcare coverage to all American residents, free at the point-of-service.

Congresswoman Jayapal has shown the revised text to only a few people. We need to make sure the new bill is as strong as possible and stays true to our values. Let’s call Congresswoman Jayapal this Wednesday, January 9th, to make sure it is a bill we can stand PROUDLY behind.

You can use this tool created by Health Over Profit for Everyone (HOPE) to call the Congresswoman’s office. Let’s help HOPE get to 200 calls this Wednesday!

A sample script is below. If Wednesday doesn’t work, any day this week is fine!

This is [your name] and I am a single-payer enthusiast. I’m calling to thank Congresswoman Jayapal on her leadership in sponsoring HR 676 Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act. We want to make sure it is a bill that stands true with the values of single-payer: universal, equitable, and transparent. We ask the Congresswoman to release the draft text of the bill before it is introduced in Congress. We urge the Congresswoman to protect key provisions. Specifically, we want to make sure….

– It includes long term care and is fully universal!
– It includes global budgeting, and separate capital and operating expenses!
– Has no out-of-pocket costs (such as premiums, deductibles, and co-pays)
– Is truly comprehensive, including reproductive care!
– Outlaws for-profit healthcare delivery!

– And is implemented in a timely manner for everyone!
